Bring On The Boho Chic
Last month I shared the results of the interior design quiz I took that printed to modern minimalist. I guess that is accurate, because I do like simple, clean lines, but nothing really shiny.
However, when it comes to style, interior or fashion, I feel like I have a split personality. I spend a lot of time at the beach, the warm beach. And I love the care-free, warm weather, flowy vibe when I am there. Definitely not coastal interior, though. So, I think the Jekyll to my Hyde on style is a bit Boho Chic.
I love keeping colors on the lighter side, and mixing vintage, or flea market finds with more modern pieces. Like this great piece I salvaged from a shop that was recently redecorating. I also have quite the collection of global inspired “chotchkes” that I have collected in my travels. Mixing and matching them in different areas works with my desired boho vibe.
One thing I plan to work on is adding more organic elements to my space regardless of style, be it a houseplant or a vase of fresh-cut greens, because the boho style really embraces the infusion of life. Natural light is a challenge, so bringing in the greenery in other ways as well.
Here is a list of ideas to make your space more bohemian chic:
Lighten up your color scheme. If you don’t want the hassle of painting, add some lighter, neutral colors with accessories, like pillows and throw blankets.
Balance your furniture styles. Mix dark woods with jewel toned fabrics.
Mix and match vintage and flea market finds. Add pieces that have a weathered look.
Add textured elements. Woven fabrics on top of velvet.
Get inspired by global art.
Add some flowy curtains.
Bring the outdoors inside with different house plants.
“Stage” your clutter. Grab a funky tray and add a few elements that look like you just threw them there.
Bring in some pampas grass in a vase.
Set the mood by adding musky and floral scents to capture the bohemian vibe.
