The Struggle To Find Inspiration
I literally just sat here staring at a blank screen, trying to find the inspiration to write about where I find inspiration!!
I decided that one of my goals for 2022 was to work on my blog. So, I scheduled out a whole list of different topics to write about each week, as a source of inspiration!! I feel lately I have been ignoring my creative self and I want to get back in touch with her. I like her. She is laid back and cool with a sort of boho vibe that just creates for the sake of creating.
Artists always get asked; where do you find inspiration? It’s ridiculous to say everywhere, but it’s kinda true. I recently read an article in a newsletter from a fellow artist I subscribe to about finding inspiration. She specifically was looking for what to draw. She suggested that cultivating inspiration is a skill, and practice makes perfect. She writes things down.
I take pictures. Well, it’s super easy when you think about it, because I carry my phone with me everywhere I go, so I have a camera with me every where I go. I might take pictures of a cool flower I walked by, a giant leaf I found on the ground, a plate of mixed paints, my flaming dessert or the color of my beverage. I screen shot quotes and recipes and I have emails sitting in my inbox from 3 years ago, because I thought someone had a great idea.
For quick inspo ideas, I’ve started creating mood boards. I find fun templates in Canva and pop different pictures and color palettes into them. They are fun to create and a quick way to get inspired. For more in-depth inspiration, I turn to Pinterest. I can get sucked in, but at least it is an eco-friendly nod to saving pictures from magazines.
Here is a peek at some of the photos of things that inspired me along my path-
