My 5 Month 2021 "Habits To Break" Official Check-In

Hi!

I’m not sure if you recall, but if you have been following my blog, at the start of 2021, I shared the bad habits that I had cultivated after almost a year of pandemic fun. And I shared why I wanted to break them. If you missed that one, you can read it here.

I thought it would be fun to check-in and see how I am doing, especially since it has been over 90 days since I declared what I was changing (you know, they say it takes 21 days to form a habit...good or bad and 90 days to make it a permanent lifestyle change).

So, here goes…..

  1. I had wanted to go back to my pre-pandemic ways of going to bed early, getting up early, going to the gym early and starting my day….early. I am definitely the most productive in the mornings. I am happy to say, this has been a success! I went back to the gym at the beginning of January and have been going Monday-Friday every day by 5:30 am, working out, coming home and starting my day. I’ve decided to give myself a bit of slide on the weekends (it is all about balance), although I am usually still up what would be considered early on a weekend. I do have dogs. That want to eat. And go out. Score 1 for Early=Productive.

  2. Aside from an artist, I am a self-proclaimed Foodie. I am also, not as young as I used to be and I realize that going back to the gym alone is not going to shed the pounds. I have been working on changing my eating habits. Since January, I have tried to follow 3 different eating programs. None of them include mojitos. I am going to try going back to the first one. Score 0 for Fit=Confident.

  3. Aside from a self-proclaimed Foodie, I am an artist. I realized that I have been suffering from a tremendous case of artist block. I wrote about it here. I have finally begun to break free from it and have been taking a lot of pictures, but I have also been doing a tremendous amount of graphic design and social media marketing. That pays. Pretty well. Leaving less time to work on my own personal artwork. Score .5 for Art=Life.

  4. I cleaned off my desk. A few times. So, I may not have quite gotten to the rest of the house as far as decluttering goes, but I have been busy. Doing other things. Spending time with family. My dogs. Going on a trip here and there. Score 0 for Organized=Calm.

  5. I wanted to focus on my health. Since January I have had a physical and a mammogram and I have been fully vaccinated. Great success. Score 1 for Health=Wealth.

My total score is a 2.5 out of 5 on success of forming my good habits.

I’m not proud; I’m not going to lie.
